Not sure whether we should be happy or disappointed about the soccer this weekend. Yesterday, Tom's team played a hard fought game in the semi-final, only to lose by 1-0. The guys fought and fought till the end, and almost scored a great equalizer in the last minute. Disappointed but proud of them, we watched as they went forward to the 3rd-4th place play off today.
The match started in the best possible fashion, as the video shows. Charlie and Tom win the ball from the kick-off, Charlie advances past two or three defenders and crosses for Tom to slot home after 15 seconds ! This game was also hard fought and close, and was decided by a penalty awarded when Tom got past the last defender and was tripped. He was disappointed not to take the penalty kick himself, but Charlie (who was after all the best player on the team !) stepped up and crashed the ball home, to win the game.
There's an awards ceremony and pizza party to celebrate next week, and Tom will come home with the first real trophy he has won himself.
